Don't envy those clear and sharp photos online anymore. This focusing mode is fast and accurate!

Photographers often discuss how their own photos are always not as sharp as those they see online. Of course, there are some factors that everyone understands, such as holding the camera steady, using a shutter cable, and so on. However, these are actually just some of the most basic methods.\n

Actually, every photographer often takes blurry photos, but people don't publish these photos! However, there are still some techniques to take as few blurry photos as possible, and only by applying these techniques comprehensively can a higher success rate be achieved.\n

The AF key of the camera

Many photographers, especially beginners, almost 90% of them do not know how to use the buttons that most cameras have. Most people focus by half pressing the shutter button and then pressing the shutter button to shoot. The result is that the camera will refocus every time it takes a photo. What if the object you want to photograph is far away and there happens to be some foreground or background interference? At this point, it is always difficult to focus on the subject being photographed. After finally getting in focus, the composition becomes out of focus again.\n

Most people have this; AF-On” The button. This key can be set as the focus key through menu settings. In this way, as long as one focusing is performed during shooting, the focus point will stop at the same position, and the shutter key will only be responsible for the shutter.\n

Single point focusing\n

As a photographer, one should learn to; Tell the camera how to do it;. Instead of just half pressing the shutter button and letting the camera decide how to focus, although most of the time the camera will find the correct focus point. But if you start using a large aperture fixed focus lens and pursue shallow depth of field effects, it is very easy to encounter problems.\n

For example, if the model is 3.5 meters away and you shoot with a 200mm f/2.8 lens, the depth of field will only be 38 millimeters! Do you still let the camera decide where to focus on this 38mm lens? What if the focus is on the mouth? The eyes may be out of focus.\n

There should also be a button on the camera (located in the upper right corner of the image below) to select the focus. The general default setting is to activate all focus points, and the camera decides which one to use. Press this key and use the directional keys to manually select and activate the focus point. After selection, when focusing, you will see that only one focusing point is working, not all focusing points are lit up. Now you can focus on the model's eyes. Aim the selected focus point at the model's eyes and press the focus button. The focus is now fixed at the model's eyes, but be careful not to move the camera or model anymore.

Automatic servo focusing

This name sounds very useful. Here is an actual shooting example to illustrate: if you are shooting a wedding and you are standing at one end of the aisle, the newlyweds are walking towards you, and the lighting is not good, so you use an f/2.8 aperture and a depth of field of only 15 centimeters. Single focus doesn't work at this point because the subject is constantly moving.

At this point, setting the camera to servo focus will result in a different effect. With this focusing mode, the camera can automatically track the model walking towards you, always focusing on the moving newcomer, whether the model is approaching or walking away. Some of them are available in the menu settings, and you can also adjust the sensitivity of the servo focus.\n

The photo above shows a father and son playing happily, with a messy background. It is almost difficult to take this photo using ordinary focusing methods Of course, you can use random guns to shoot birds, hoping to capture a focused image accurately, but what if none of them are captured? But with a single focus point and automatic servo focus, hold down the focus key while the child rotates and track the focus. This way, you can use your thumb to focus and your index finger to take charge of the shutter and be ready to shoot at any time.\n

Let's take a look at the photo taken on the beach above. When she turned around to chase the waves, she took this photo perfectly. At this point, the single focus can be placed on her back, and then servo focusing can be used, so that the camera's focus will always track her movements. When the most beautiful moment of the waves appears, you can press the shutter button.\n

Afterword:

When I learned to use single point automatic servo focusing, almost 90% of the time I used this mode. Only use single focus when the auxiliary focus light must be used in extremely dark conditions. If you haven't tried this little trick yet, I suggest you give it a try. At first, you may feel uncomfortable, but after using it for a while, you will find that your shooting efficiency will greatly improve, and many exciting moments can be easily captured!
